The process continues

Today was filled with unexpected events.

First, Etsy woke me up an hour before my alarm.  Next, I looked outside and found that all of the melting snow had frozen.  I said aloud, "Today, I should wear my yak tracks."  I look around, only to find that I didn't keep one pair aside away from the movers.  I think I assumed that I wouldn't be around long enough to experience a freeze over like this considering how dry and warm of a winter it has been.  During our walk, Etsy wiped out on the sidewalk, there was a car accident where one of the cars ended up on the walking path by Lake Phalen, then I wiped out.  I took a picture of the car, but it might have been too far away as there were police officers and I didn't want to be "that guy."

Work was simple.  I proceeded to show my replacement all of the basic tools I put in place for QA and gave him a basic philosophy to follow.  Indicative of future events, R and F chimed in multiple times.  This kid will have a lot to deal with in terms of personality.

After work, I went to the DMV to get the same story my wife got several months earlier..."We're backlogged 3 months, but for $20 you can get a copy of your title in 5 business days."  Seriously?  Why don't they just charge everyone an extra $20 and give everyone their titles right away?  I paid it because I need that title ASAP for transport to Germany.

The Baltimore VPC was a little better.  I'm glad I called them.  According to them, I can also process the vehicle at Atlanta if I wanted to.  They would simply transport the car on their own to Baltimore at the cost of an extra day or two.  It's a tempting option as my wife is located very near Atlanta.  I also confirmed the paperwork I will need, which is not as much as I anticipated.  I'll probably still bring the extra paperwork the Surface Military Command suggests in their April 2007 revision for "Shipping Your POV."

USAA was easy to work with, as always.  They have the paperwork I need on its way.  I should have a fax copy waiting for me at work, one at the Baltimore VPC, and another in the mail toward me.  I did it that way so I should be able to get a copy in some fashion or another.

I talked to Fedex Kinko's about getting copies of my notebooks made as the UPS Store told me potentially several days for the job.  I'll see what the final bill is at UPS for two I gave them, but Fedex Kinko's told me more what I expected to hear...they can do it all same day, probably with 2 hours.  Fedex quoted me $75 for 5 - 100 page notebooks.  UPS, quoted me only for the binding and not the charge of the copies.  I'll have to opt for Kinko's regarding the same day service because my most current notebooks can't be gone more than several hours.

Walking the dog the second time was better.  There was less water on the walkways, no ice, warmer weather, but she still went crazy when dogs were nearby.  I pulled her aside way in advance each time and she would jump up but then collect herself after I said "no," held firm on the leash, and made her sit.  It will probably be a long work in progress.

I worked some more on taxes.  TCF notified me that my 1098 for 2011 had been modified to $1600 interest paid instead of the $300 reported to me originally.  This is good in that we will probably get a bigger refund.  This is bad in that I now have to wait to file.  I've already contacted them for more exact figures, but just one more slow down.

To finish the night off, I made two 1/2 pound turkey burger blucys.  I am starting to get making those down to a science.  With a cover, cook on medium heat for 10 minutes on each side.  Without a cover, more like 12min.  They're good just by themselves, without any fixings!

The Georgia Front has been very quiet today.  Outside of a "Good Morning" text, I have received no communication.  While this is not the first time, I'm a little more anxious today because the time to move is fast approaching.  My guess is that night training is continuing today from yesterday.  Perhaps they are getting tested on the use of tracers which they learned about last night.  I hope she's doing well.
